TEACHING AND RELATED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2017 — 2020: Head Production Manager, Candor Arts

Oversee all aspects of production at a small publishing house

Meet with clients to co-develop artist books and other high-end publications

Design and construct handmade boxes, books, and other art objects for both commission clients and clients represented by the publisher

Teach classes and bookbinding workshops for high school and college aged students

2015: Adjunct Instructor, Columbia College Chicago (Beginning Bookbinding)

Developed a syllabus for undergraduate beginner bookbinders

Conducted a semester-long course on book structure and content

 

2015 – 2016: Graduate Ambassador, Columbia College’s Book & Paper Program

Ran the department’s social media profiles and blogged regularly

Met with new and prospective students, gave tours, and represented the College

 

2014 – 2015: Graduate Assistant at the Center for Book and Paper Arts Bindery

Monitored open studio hours, maintained equipment, kept studio clean and organized

Assisted undergraduate students with bookbinding and equipment use

Worked on special projects, including editioned bookbinding and gallery installation/exhibition opening assistance

Proficient in Vandercook letterpress printing and typesetting technology

Well-versed in most basic and intermediate bookbinding structures and practices

Familiar with both Eastern and Western hand-papermaking methods and equipment

Experienced with various relief printmaking materials, equipment, and practices

Skilled in project management for both one-of-a-kind and editioned large-scale projects
